Lung Lasting

Hello world!! This week has been great, as part of team LLAMA, I continued working on the assigned project.

We are working on improving the device called “Take a Breather”, a previous automated bag valve mask. our project top priority to innovate the current prototype so to be  sustainable invention for low resource settings especially Thailand. We are also to rectify the design error which brings about the overheating of the motor used for actuation.

We started with reading all the documents of the previous team to get a clear understanding of how the designed their device. The information was just too much, nevertheless we completed reading them. We found out how they approached the problem and they justified the materials they used and their design criteria. We had challenges interpreting their test results. We also had a meeting with our client Dr Abidi.

As part of the team, I went deep into research on how to approach the problem. We did our own research on the Bag Valve Mask mechanisms and human physiology. Not only that but also we researched the constraints which govern the inventions for low resource settings like Thailand from which we came up with our design criteria. We have just completed brainstorming our solution ideas and screening them.  The process is sharpening my engineering design knowledge.

I am enjoying the SEED lunch every Thursday since eating together strengthens team fellowship. Tuesday, Dr Haunter and Grant took to watch us to a Baseball game at Minute Maid Park. I really enjoyed the match between Pirates and Astros.

And finally, the Huffs came over to the OEDK. It was nice meeting them.
