5th week in OEDK

Hello again!

This week was very exciting, we finally prototype a lot! After last week that we had made our low fidelity prototype we trained our 3D printing, making an experiment where we printed humerus bones. We were planing to use in our prototype, but we figured out that was a little bit creepy to the parents manipulate a model that contain bones arms. After a lot of discussion we made our low/medium fidelity prototype, our professors didn’t like how we were expecting, but this reaction was good for us, because we finally start to focus what was the real problem and about solution that really were able to work better.

We reflected a lot in the comments about our first prototype, We realized that we had a very good structure, but didn’t have good joints. It was made of wood that we cut in the laser cutting machine, but the joins, that was a kind of a ball with wires inside, wasn’t doing their job, all the motions and movements was wrong.  So, we decided to change everything, remaking the scapula format and all the joints. We fused the scapula with the humerus for the contraction arm and for the normal arm we use therabands and eye hooks as joints. People really have got impressed!

Today we had a meeting with our client and he really enjoyed our prototypes and only ask for some modifications in materials, but the rest is fine. We are in the right way, I’m happy about it. This meeting let me more confident about everything, was the best thing to finalize the week. We also ordered a lot of stuff, we now are planing the changes to remake our prototype than after we will be able to do our final project. I’M SO EXCITING!

I am pleased that as you learn you are gaining not only skills but also confidence.
