Third Week!!!

Hello,

This week started really well, I had a lot of accomplishments and a bunch of work done!

The first day started with this picture, probably a good sign for an awesome week! On this day we had to do more research about the how the zinc-air batteries works and how actually the concentrators works. On the next day we started building our first prototype, but first we did a tour at the electronics room and learned some soldering tips, like, how to use the soldering oven and the solder paste, we also spend a lot of time disordering some old boards so we could learn a bit more about smd, surface soldering device, soldering, it was really productive and we really learned a lot of stuff.

So for the rest of the week we got to assemble our device and try to test it. But always when we went to the wet lab the device didn’t work as it was suppose to. Then I had to try to figure out what was the problem with the board and I discovered that actuality it had a lot of problems, so I had to make a new one, last image, because the components were already fried. After that we made a script for our testing with the procedures that we were going to use and the role of each one. We had to find someone on campus that  could borrow a Handi+ for us, so we could compare the results with our device,  after finding it we discovered a few more problems with the device, but we figure it out later the the main problem was the old batteries that we were using.

In one of the days of this week we had a great workshop with Jeremy, our TA, he taught us the basics of SolidWorks and some cool tricks of it,  we spend a full afternoon doing that! It was really  good class and I enjoyed to get to know this software even that I already know how to use Fusion 360, another CAD program.

That’s it for this week! I hope you enjoyed reading it. See you next week.
