This week started with defining our design criteria. We had a rough idea of what our priorities were, but we were not completely set since we had not talked about it with our leadership team. After talking to the leadership team and our clients, we revised our design criteria a few more times until we decided on 2 design constraints (Functionality and Safety) and 5 design objectives (usability, comfort, size, durability, and modularity).

The design objective that we revised the most is usability. We split the objective into two distinct parts which are cue training and haptic differentiation. Cue training will be determined by how long users take to learn and interpret the different cues effectively. The haptic differentiation is determined by the ability of the user to detect the differences between varying vibrotactile cues.

An exciting event that occurred during the week was our egg drop challenge. We were only given 10 minutes to complete our contraption to keep the egg safe. It served as a great and fun low-fidelity prototyping experience. My team decided to use straws to house the egg and a trash bag to serve as a parachute to soften the landing and reduce the pressure on the egg. We were one of the two winning teams since our egg survived the drop.

We are now looking more toward low-fidelity prototyping for our preliminary ideas and further brainstorming.
