Welcome to the last week! Crunch time, presentations, documentation, and plenty of stress from all of it!
We started the week off with doing a full test of our solution with just ourselves. Our 17 new syringes, medical and non-medical, made for a good testing population to compare with our dataset. When we used the test, we passed with flying colors, with 96% of our tests within 5% of the actual measure, while the other two runs fell within 10%. Then, we tried with random people. That was disappointing. Our 96% within 5% became 80% within 10%. However, with some statistical adjustments based off the test, we managed to bring everyone to within the ten percent margin! While not the best it could be, it is still pretty good that our sample of laypeople was able to have final numbers within our range.
At this point, we were pretty happy with our results. Most of our cases were within our five percent, and we weren’t throwing away good syringes. Our system was quick and simple, and could be easily expanded with the addition of more syringe data. It could be fined-tuned to the specific population of nurses using the device, as well as their syringes. While our solution isn’t perfect (a couple odd syringes don’t fit the lines, human/data error), it’s a great proof of concept that shows it has what it takes to move forward. I am proud of this project and have high hopes for what it will do in the future.
The rest of our remaining time was funneled into our presentation, which made it awesome! We rocked the whole thing and it felt amazing to have a strong finish to a great project. Chloe came and talked to us after, but didn’t have any more question we hadn’t already answered. Compared to our first presentation, it couldn’t have been better.
Here we are, at the End Times. Presentations are over, and we just have to clean up, and tie up loose ends before sending our work back to the Kasupe team. Though SEED is ending, this is just the beginning. Each of us will continue to grow and take on new and bigger challenges. These are just the roots.
